Today I walked the stage and can now call myself a college graduate. While going through the motions of graduation I thought a lot about the sacrifices not only I had to make to get here, but the sacrifices my parents, siblings, and husband had to make too.
When I graduated high school my sweet parents supported my decision to move out to Utah, but I know it was not easy for them to see me go. Being the favorite child and all (just kidding Jeff & Erik). That move was a big step for me. I had never lived away from home so I had to rely on my parents for financial, mental, and emotional support. They were there for every sad, happy, exciting, and nerve wracking day. Because of their support I was able to believe in myself and excel in everything I was doing. I can say with certainty that I would not have been able to walk that stage today without the love and support of my incredible parents.
Now, Jeff and Erik. They let their little sister move into their college town and insert myself into their “college experience” and for that, I am eternally grateful. Jeff and Aubree let me come over and bug them when I was lonely and fed me dinner all the time. Erik was there with medicine for every illness, no matter the time of day (or night). Jeff tutored me through all things related to math and Erik proofread about every essay I wrote my first two and a half years. I’m certain I would have gotten terrible grades without their help my first few years. Then, they graduated and set the greatest example they could have of hard work, dedication, and both of those things paying off.
My sweet, sweet husband, thank you so much. Dallin is my rock, biggest support, and #1 fan. He helped me get through every homework assignment I vowed I just couldn't finish, he brought me snacks to school all the time, and he would stay up with me until I was finished doing homework. He pushes me to work harder, step out of my comfort zone, and give my very best. His love and support has pushed me through the last few years of college.
After both of my siblings moved away, I was left with no immediate family in the same state as me. But, I was blessed with loving in-laws who embraced me with open arms and treat me like one of their own. I am grateful for their constant love, support, Sunday dinners, and for playing games with me allllll the time. I truly feel that I have a family here in Utah.
Because of the love and support from these amazing people, I can now call myself a college graduate. And for that, I am extremely grateful. I am so blessed with the most amazing people in my life who help me learn, grow, and become a better person. Thank you for your love, support, and encouragement. I love you all so much!
